Did you know that only 2% of venture capital funding went to women in 2017?

In recognition of persistent societal barriers and biases faced by women, Uber embarked on a groundbreaking initiative to #RethinkTheRatio and empower female entrepreneurs. Despite significant strides, gender disparities persist, with women receiving just 2% of venture capital funding. Determined to effect change, Uber partnered with the esteemed community of women at Girlboss to champion female-led businesses and foster a more inclusive entrepreneurial landscape. Through the Uber Pitch program, we provided mentorship, resources, and $220,000 in funding to aspiring female founders, fostering a more inclusive entrepreneurial landscape.

The multifaceted initiative included educational tools, mentorship sessions, and a competitive pitch event, ultimately selecting three exceptional female entrepreneurs for support. The campaign received widespread acclaim for its commitment to empowering women and challenging traditional norms, enhancing Uber’s reputation as a champion of diversity and inclusion in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
